S-S-S-S-Studio!

This week I have mostly been sewing....

Here are some pictures of my sewing studio - it's in a block of artists studios in an old cotton mill in Manchester. I like the fact it's keeping a little bit of history going - it's still being used as a work space instead of being converted into flats. It was a working cotton mill until the 1900's and then was a matress factory from 1928 until we moved in last year!

We were the first art studio to open - now it's full on 2 floors, with the other 3 floors being used for a recording studio & function room - plus other businesses! Its nice to be around fellow creative types - even if most days i'm too busy to hang around and chat.

Being an old Mill, the canal runs right by us and I love looking out of the window and seeing the wildlife. One day I saw a horse drawn barge pull up and graze their horse on the common land! This morning on the way to the studio (through Shameless style council estates) I saw a huge flock of Canadian Geese - which looked so out of place with the derelict tower blocks behind them!

No looking out of the window for me this week - lots of sewing! Always a rush to get it all sewn in time for the weekend and with New Season designs just out on the rails & 2 other boutiques to supply this week was a bit more manic than usual!

All the new designs have gone up on the website (the newest ones I made today will go online next week!) check out: www.meandyu.com

  1. Wow what a fabulous studio! I'm most envious! Brilliant to hear the history of the place and how wonderful to be able to look out at the world while you create?! Glad to hear the new season is going well and you're busy :D Xx
