I have too many shoes. I did try and count them once and got to about 150 pairs but then that's only the ones in current rotation.
The loft holds many more shoe secrets. Part of this problem is due to the fact my feet grew a size in my mid twenties. I've always had dinky little feet - I used to take a 3 1/2 to 4 (one foot is half a size bigger) but now 4 1/2 to 5 but it changes depending on the weather! So that's my excuse for having a ridiculous amount.
The thing is I wear many of them, sometimes up to 3 pairs a day. I'd be completely lost without my uggs - perfect for sewing and around the house (but not for public occasions - too wag), haviana flip flops replace them in summer (4 pairs) and trusty converse go with anything (5 pairs). I save the vintage heels for nights out (20 pairs) and the boots for winter (30 pairs).
There's many more categories - trainers, mid heel, office shoes, wedding shoes, funny vintage ones that don't quite go with anything, ones that need heeling, too big, too small and beloved but beyond repair (which I can't bear to throw away).
My most treasured pair - 1970's gold Manolo Blahnik stiletto slingbacks in a size 3, found in a charity shop for 25p. They've seen better days, their previous owner disco'd them to death. The combination of the stiletto with no ankle support and the tiny ickle size means I've never made it past walking on carpet in front of the mirror before falling off them and not worn them out of the house!
But on a general day in the shop you can't beat a comfy flat shoe so I was happy to discover these forgotten beauties this morning peeking out from between 2 pairs of trainers. Topshop white leather flats with colour splash - bought in last years sale for a fiver and only worn a couple of times in last years miserable summer. What a great start to the day!

Ooooh what a find! They are very sweet shoes. I wish I wasn't a 'de-clutter' obsessive as I always find myself wanting things I more than likely discarded months previously!
