Well the laptop finally died. If I can get the back off I might be able to fix it but only for a spare. There's no denying it - time for a new one. The only trouble is I've got to decide Mac or PC.
I've always wanted a Mac. Working in the design industry on them for a number of years I found them easier to use, more reliable and well just plain pretty.
Now I'm not the richest of people, if money was no object I wouldn't be having this massive debate - I'd just go for the Mac. But in these money conscious times can I really justify spending almost twice as much money on a machine which I can get the same performance from one considerably cheaper.
Reasons to buy Mac
1. I want one
2. Its pretty
3. When I last used one and had a pc of the same spec I found it more consistent and reliable
4. Its industry standard so would benefit my CV
5. It would make me happy when using it (don't ask me why but I rarely suffered computer rage when I used one)
6. I've some artwork discs that only work on Mac
7. A pc would not give me joy
8. I spend hours a day working on one
9. I wouldn't buy an ugly phone - I'm totally against nokia on this principle
10. I would be a Mac user
Reasons to buy PC
1. It's considerably cheaper
2. I've got a PC network so I guess it will be easier to set up for file sharing / backing up - (don't know how to do it but I'm sure it will be possible on Mac)
3. I'll need to get new software for Mac - already have for windows
4. It would be less of a target for theft
5. IT boys say that a modern PC laptop is just as quick if not more so, and can be upgraded easily
6. Its just a computer it doesn't really matter what it looks like
7. Its cheaper - I know I already said it but its worth saying twice!
8. I don't have the money so it will cost me even more due to cc fees or hp
9. Its a big financial commitment when you haven't got a huge income
10. I would be a Mac user
So when you put it all down in a list its just really about the money. Am going to the apple store today to make my decision.....
