This seasons must have

They're long chunky cardigans to you and me - to the fashion press they're coatigans! - you know where they're coming from - cardi you can wear as a coat combo thingy isn't quite as catchy.

Today I'm wearing an old favourite - a grey one bought from Next about 10 years ago, I bought it for a tenner in the sale - that's what I call a bargain. It's looking a bit shabby now though so is relegated to studio or Sunday.

I really want a new one but I'm craving something more home knit than what the high street has to offer (cheap wool or polyester blobs so easily) . A few years ago I saw the most divine hand-knitted cream cable cardi. It was on Portobello market in London and was about £85. Too expensive at the time but its one of those things that come back to haunt me.

I love those big home knit Arran sweaters - they evoke crisp country walks and curling up by a real fire - none of which I actually do, but maybe if I get the jumper......

A quick google images search turned up this one - absolutely perfect - but by Martin Margiela a whopping £750! That seems a huge amount - but can you imagine how long it would take to knit!
